Overview

A five month contract role at Pixelrights, a startup providing a Squarespace-style online website builder for subscribers to create and manage their own portfolio websites.

Responsibilities

The role went beyond front-end web development and I was involved in the design and UX strategy behind the company’s new blog platform, dashboard interface and design manager interface - the latter where users select from various design options in the process of building their website.

Design

In the course of my work I produced a new design for the company logo.

Challenges

I was brought in by the client to bring a modern approach to their design process. I felt that the main challenge was to integrate this in a pragmatic way to ensure that usability and familiarity to existing subscribers was never sacrificed.

Client Feedback

James is an excellent front-end designer and developer with a great creative problem-solving mind. Able to produce great design ideas and implement them without missing a beat, or equally work accurately from a brief.

He took up new complex technical challenges that weren’t part of our original brief for him, and delivered them perfectly. James is one of those rare finds that crosses the line between technical and creative design ability. He is also a really nice bloke. Highly recommended.
